About Tomorrow-Movies.com

Hi, my name’s Nick. I first read Tomorrow, When the War Began for a school English class assignment back in 2002 and was instantly hooked, reading the rest of the series soon after. A couple of years passed and I read the series again, and thought about what an awesome movie Tomorrow, When the War Began would make. After doing a bit of Googling I came across "The JM Group", a Yahoo Group run by Vic, a top bloke and now moderator on the Tomorrow-Movies forum, for people who were fans of John Marsden and the Tomorrow series who liked to chat about the series.

After digging my way through hundreds of posts on the group, I found out that a Tomorrow, When the War Began movie was in the works, that was to be directed by Esben Storm. I also soon realised that there was a frustratingly limited amount of information about how he was going to turn such a fantastic book into a film.

I did some more Googling to try and find out who this Esben Storm guy was, and to try and get in contact with him to find out about what he had planned for the film. I ended up finding out that he directed "Round the Twist", a children’s television series I loved, back in the day, and also managed to scrape up an email address of his. I then contacted Esben with a few questions about the film, and managed to find out some answers. Having this contact with the potential director of the first Tomorrow movie gave me the idea to create a website that informed people about the progress of bringing Tomorrow to the big screen; Tomorrow-Movies. I got to work on creating this website and on November 14, 2004, Tomorrow-Movies.com went live.

I kept working on the website over the years, making small additions and giving it a revamp on January 1, 2007, but there was little news to report about the Tomorrow movie.

I remained in email contact with Esben right up until early 2008 when, after five years, Esben’s rights to the Tomorrow movies expired. Within those years Esben did much to gain support for the movies not only from Australian resources, but overseas.

Following this was a long period of time where other parties had opportunities to make a Tomorrow movie happen, however because of confidentiality issues, they could not be reported on the website.

Finally, after over five years of ‘officially’ waiting for a Tomorrow movie, in June of 2009 it was announced that Screen Australia was giving support to five feature length films, one of which being Tomorrow, When the War Began, to be directed by Stuart Beattie. I was inspired upon hearing this news to completely redo Tomorrow-Movies.com to what you see today, so that it could be the #1 resource for news on the Tomorrow movies and the Tomorrow series.

I hope you like the website. I put a lot of work into it over the years and am very proud of it. I’ll continue to post news on the movie adaptation of Tomorrow, When the War Began and any sequels.

-Nick
