wow, it is finally here. Is anyone else excited. Just think about it another six movies to come. YAY.

This is the greatest news ever, has made my day.

    P.S biggest TWTWB fan ever.
so queuing up for tickets when first released

    • Adam says:

Where does it say six movies. They could combine books- which I think would be smart and save a lot of time instead of drawing it out like harry potter.

      • Sammy says:

but harry potter was good and it would reck the harry potter seriers if they put movies togther you wouldnt get that efect but anyways who would listen to me what ever i saw people just make fun of it’s just my thoughts no need 2 get soooooo judge mental about it well thats some poeple not all.I kinda do agree with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!just a little !!

    • Thomas says:

It’s great news about the second movie.
As I have come to understand it; so far they only have contract/money for 3 movies. And that they might do the rest of the 4 book in another format, like Tv-series or tv-movie…
But like someone else, the best would be to but invlude 2 books in every movie from now on. So that it would be 3 more action packed movies. Because I’m afraid that the fourth book “Darkness, be my Friend” (the only bad one) wouldn’t be a very good movie either.

    • Eli says:

Im pretty sure they plan on making 3 or 4 movies then turning the rest of the books into a tv series. Just what i heard, im not sure how much weight it has.

      • Simon says:

If they’re combining books, i’m a little worried a lot will be cut out. Just reading the second book again and it has a good story that would need at least 2 hours to tell. That’s my personal opinion.

        • Claire says:

I totally agree, they already cut quite alot out of the first movie, I found myself waiting for certain bits to happen and I was a little disappointed with the bridge scene, it was not how the book portrayed it and it was my favourite part of the 1st book!

          • Sarahloves1Direction says:

The books were originally suppose to be a triology. But because it was such a sucess John decided to add 4 more books plus another 3 for the Ellie Chronicals.
They will probally stop at 3 and make the rest a T.V series. I love the books and am looking forward to 2 and 3. :)

    • chris in uk says:

Great news at last, the fans were getting worried

    • Mark says:

I agree with the combining of books to 1 movie, but not the second one. Possibly 3,4,5 as one movie and 6,7 as another but really, the more the better.
It is so awesome to have an Australian movie series that is so huge, based on an awesome Aussie writers series and so greatly recieved by the public. GO AUSSIE!! Makes ya proud doesn’t it.

    • Estelle says:

Oh my god, another movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.YAYYAYAYAYAY.YAY!I just finished reading The other side of Dawn.It was sooooooooooooooooooo good!!!

  2. Jules says:

Wow!!!! This is so cool! We have been waiting so long and now it is finally here!!! I can’t wait to see it. Go Tomorrow when the war began!!!!

  3. Simon says:

Love the first, A Second is what i’ve wanted since. The franchise was too good to leave at just one. Is it true all 7 will be films? Now the smart thing to do is to write number 2, Then while Number 2 is being produced, write number 3 so they can be done one after the other so the actors don’t age further.

    • caitlin says:

i have been looking around and they have said that TWTWB 2 would come out next year(unlikely if they have only just started writing) and TWTWB3 would come out 2013 so there wont be a two year gap each time a movie comes out

  4. Laura says:

This is fantastic!! Im so very excited! :D

  5. Raquel says:

Can’t wait for TWTWB 2!!! if the script writers could write amazingly fast would be great because then it could begin filming sooner!!! WOW!!! SOOOO EXCITED!!! can hardly contain myself. :)

  6. Charlie says:

    Cant wait so excited

  7. steoh says:

    AHHHH!!!!!!
I’ve just gotten my friends convinced at giving the books ago, this is so exciting!!! =D

  8. TJ says:

Oh my God I could of died when i heard the news they were making the 2nd and 3rd movies…. BEST BOOKS EVA. I cant pick up another book because i find them too boring. THANKYOU MRS THEIME (english teacher) for making us read the first book in class. All my friends think the books are stupid but i LOVE them. Dont worry John Marsden, I have made others read the books and they are loving them. :) Wish Johnny would make more (but i like how he ends the Ellie Chronicles)

    • Caitlin says:

I know right, I attempted reading another book couldnt read it because I found it so boring. John Marsden you are the best

  9. Kelly says:

OMG finally! I’ve been checking this page for months with no updates… But I definitely think some books should be combined. A lot of the books after Robyn died is just fluff. All that stuff can be combined, because very little of it is action.

  10. Lucy says:

I’m happy…. but until i get more concrete confirmation, I’m not getting my hopes up. Like people here are saying, it’s been 6 months since we’ve even had a scrap of news. A script means a possibility. We’ll see.

  11. Bella says:

OMG I am soo excited about TMTWB 2!!! EEEEEEEEEKKKKK! I totally think that putting like maybe 2 books into one movie would probably be a good idea cause it would definitely save up a lot of time. I hope that the movies don’t turn up like Harry potter cause all of the casts’ life’s would turn all weird and pear shaped and there would be no privacy at all and everyone would be all over you like moths to a flame…

  12. Margaret says:

I really hope they mean it. It is so much more worthy than half the movies around these days. I’ve been waiting for over 15 years for these books to hit the screen.
Kelly, I hope you haven’t spoilt it for too many people. Let’s hope most people have read the books:(

  13. Alex says:

yay =D i am so exited its my fav book and movie but is there an actual date yet or at least ruffly in 2012 when it will come out

  14. Simon says:

My Guess Is late 2012, early 2013. It will depend on how long the script takes to get written, Then, getting the cast and crew ready, then production dates can hopefully be set in concrete and lastly after the filming, the editing of the film will be done. When the script is written, it’ll possibly come up as news on this site, then production dates should soon follow.

  15. tayla says:

OMG!!!!!! I can’t wait 4 the sequel to come out!!!! I wonder if they will shoot the bit where Ellie an Lee ‘make love’

    • C-Rock says:

Never heard of the book; never read it– I’m American for crying out loud, this is me being culturally adventurous when I watched the first movie. But I really, really enjoyed it and for the second one? YEAH, I DEFINITELY WANT TO SEE ELLIE AND LEE MAKE LOVE… SHE’S AMAZINGLY HOT AND LEE’S LIKE THOSE SILENT STRONG TYPE DUDES. IF IT’S IN THE SEQUEL, I’M THE FIRST ONE BUYING TICKETS… Man… It better play in the US too. Hey, if the love scene’s that good I may be buying two tickets: an airplane ticket to Australia and a movie ticket! LOL!

  16. C-Rock says:

Oh man, SOOOOO EXCITED for the second movie! I’m an American that just saw “Tomorrow, When the War Began” and freakin’ love it… Heard about from friends traveling in Australia and I can’t believe that it’s not in US theaters. It has some awesome explosions, great character development, and some nice romance for the ladies watching as well and a compellingly exciting storyline.

BRING THIS MOVIE TO AMERICAN THEATERS PLEASE!!! Is there a waiting list for the premier? I wanna sign up now!

  17. tony says:

just saw it, it needs to shown in the usa and canada

  18. tayla says:

I wonder if they r going to make the sequel like the book. Like r they going 2 make Chris die?

  19. tayla says:

Hurry Up and get the movie in the cinema! I’m desperate =D

  20. Simon says:

I Just noticed that Kieran Darcy-Smith also acted in a few episodes of Children’s Series My Place. I never knew until now. Interesting stuff.

  21. emma says:

Really, really hope the sequel is gonna happen, I’m a huuuuge fan of the book series!!

  22. Simon says:

I’m sure we will be seeing this soon. 12-18 months time if all goes right. The script is a huge step and because the fanbase is huge, this has a good chance of happening.

  23. anthony says:

i dont care if its dragged out. ok it wont be 10 years like harry potter (BIGGEST HP FAN) but iD love have an AWESOME AUSSIE movie series. i mean we havent really had one yet so it wouLd be SOOOOOOO good if they made individual movies for the books!!!!!! LOVE TWTWB SOO MUCH!!!!!!

  24. Tissy says:

ok sooo excited there might be a sequel! but I’m even more confused cuz they said they wod make a 2nd but then in the newspaper it said not long ago there probs won’t be another cuz they didn’t make enough money, but now there saying a 2nd will be made… oh geez SO CONFUSED but STILL SOOOO EXCITED! :D fingers crossed!!

  25. Paul says:

I remember reading earlier this year that books 2 and 3 would be done in this movie. That way they can introduce “Major” Harvey and kill him off in the one movie. It will mean that there will be two major scenes, Blowing up “Snob Hill” in Wirrawee AND Cobblers Bay, which Newcastle would be perfect for. But, then we have Chris AND Robyn dying as well which is sad. It will really depend on what the producers want to do, the ending of book three would be a good ending for the series. IF, they only want to make three movies (Which I hope they wont as I would like all of them done Including the Elle chronicles) while combining two books per movies will keep the flow happening and not allow the story to get bogged down in too much emotion (which I think was one of the major points made in the books; how Elle and the others handled being on their own and fighting a war).

Great books, great first movie, I hope that there will be more.

    Paul
PS Good comment about making the rest of the books into a mini series, that would work well without getting into soap opera mode.

  26. Adam says:

THE BOOKS ARE GREAT, HOPEFULLY THE MOVIES WILL BE JUST AS GOOD

  27. Adam says:

p.s, in response to Paul’s comments you have just revealed major spoilers for everyone!

  28. Ab fab says:

Wish sequel was out sooner, I’m concerned actors will look too old and will get replaced which would spoil it as every single one of them matched John marsdens description so perfectly , also I’m disappointed movie wasn’t heard of by my cousins in uk, when I went over and played DVD they all loved it so much they’ve now got the books. Most Irish, Scottish and English have family who live here therefor have a huge interest in our movies but none had heard of it , also they new actors from home and away/ neighbors and would have gone to cinemas to see them. Huge overlook by producers etc not to have marketed it properly it’s got huge potential to be as big as Harry potter! No. One Australian movie is what so many are saying so proud that we produced such great product xx

  29. Millie says:

Heey guys, this is pretty devastating for the TWTWB lovers but apparently they are only making the first 3 books into movies :( I’m so obsessed with TWTWB and I wish they would make all books into movies. If the series is really popular they MIGHT make a tv series out of the last few! I love tomorrow when the war began! :)

  30. Millie says:

I also agree completely with ‘Ab fab’. If the actors look too old for 16/17 year old teenagers, and they have to change them to younger versions, that will wreck it! Hopefully the same Ellie, homer, etc will be used because they were a really good choice of actors!

  31. Caitlyn says:

I know right…. they are really good. If they changed the actors then it would really wreck the whole thing! i really loved caitlin stacey, deniz akdeniz and everyone in the movie and i can’t wait for the second movie!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  32. Mikayla says:

Cant believe its on its way cant wait until second movie comes out hope its better than the book!!

    • Mitch says:

and, the movies would never be able to match up to the books; I’ve just finished reading them all but saw the movie pretty much straight away, and after reading them, you realise how much depth is put into them, unless they made about 10 movies, it would be damn hard to get to that same level of connectedness. (:

  33. Mikayla says:

oh and into reply to pauls comment and adams comment i agree u just spoiled major bit for everyone!! Oh well twtwb fans will live

  34. Mikayla says:

and wats this about making the last couple of movies into a tv series that would spoil the whole series and they would leave out details

  35. Em says:

I had read earlier on that they were planning to make three movies based on the first three novels (using the same cast). However, if they were to make the mini-series to represent the rest of the novels, they would use a different cast. This was decided as it is believed that the original actors would have aged too much.

  36. Simon says:

What would be best is to make this movie based solely on book 2. There’s a big story in this book and more than enough action and adventure to fit a 2 hour movie no problems. Getting more movies is better anyhow. But actor continuity is the problem. Does anyone know if all the original cast will reprise their roles? I’m worried as a couple of them are doing other projects which may influence the length of time it will make to produce number 2. Also, Any news on how much script has being written? I just want some news.

  37. Kim says:

I realise it’s takes an enormous amount of time and money to create a box office hit, though dragging the chain could kill the build up to each sequel as people get bored of waiting. You have the books whats the hold up? You are killing the series by taking too long as you need to keep the same actors.

  38. Mitch says:

they should make the second movie just book 2, and make two more movies, combine 3,4,5 and 6,7 :)

  39. Victoria says:

When I first heard about the second movie, I was sooo excited *–* I hope this is really true, and they released the movie soon. I’m from Brazil, and the first movie wasn’t released here :( But, what can I do ? I watched on the internet, and it’s GREAT \O

  40. Cathie says:

I did not grow up with the series it came out after I was ‘long grown’ but I am a huge fan of the books and movie and so is my daughter. We bought the DVD and when ever we watch it we always wistfully hope that there will be a sequel. I hope that they hurry up so the they can use the same awesome cast of fantastic young Aussie actors!!! HURRY UP GUYS LEAVES TWILLIGHT SERIES AND THEIR WOODEN ACTORS FOR DEAD!!!!

  41. Simon says:

    Agreed.

  42. Simon says:

I Wonder how far off the script is from being done? Next step gather the cast and set a shoot date wherever it’s to be shot. Hope they can get all the originals back.

  43. Mark says:

Not to burst anyones bubble, but if they are just writhing the second script the actors will be in their fifties before the 3rd movie comes out…

  44. Simon says:

I don’t think that’ll be the case. I’m tipping that personally while movie to is being produced, and possibly pre production, the script for movie 3 will be under way. They won’t leave it for 2-3 years like thay have with the first one.

  45. Orli says:

    Hi
    im a big fan
Is it true about how much the first movie made… if did “a big shout out to all the cast and yes defiantly John good job Marsden…and producers”
if the first one made has much as i have been reading i bet the 2nd will make double…
What will the 2nd be rated i wonder?some people have said MA+ cause of all the stuff like… chris, Ellie and lee and all that stuff…Im not bothered at all.
    John’s detail is so great.
thanks all you people that have helped out with the movie and actors in it especially great job also i herd all about john support”good 4 u john”
    -orli-

  46. Simon says:

In regards to classification, I think they will possibly make it up to work around an M15+ Rating, but due to some of the incidents in book 2, MA15+ is also a likely scenario. Just have to wait and see when number 2 is released, whenever that may be.

  47. Conor says:

Im really surprised they havent jumped on the sucsess of the first film sooner.
It was the highest grossing Aussie film of the year (and an actually decent one, not like what we normally produce..), and quite popular overseas.
The story Ive heard most often is that theyre going make three films, then do the rest as a mini-series. It would make sense because John Marsden originally only planned to write the first three books, with the series ending when they were safe in New Zealand.
Im glad he wrote more though : D
Its just a shame that theyre taking so long to do anything about the sequel..
If theyre only just working on the script now we honnestly can’t expect the film for another few years..
Then whats going to happen when the actors get too old to play teenagers…?

  48. suzanne says:

they jusy HAVE to make all the books into movies. even if they combine them. they have to get them out quickly cause the kids cant age like they did in harry potter. tv series just wouldnt be the same as a movie. the tv series can always be made after all the movies are done.

  49. Jesse says:

OMG! I soooooo love the series!

  50. fark_yea says:

i loved reading the first book for the first time in 1997 and had to buy all of the series. The first was a great movie and know all of the movies how they make them and how many they ever make will be just as good. I will be there to watch any thing that has to do with the series.
p.s Great to see good Aussie Movies you r making us all proud keep up the good work

  51. Lain says:

Is there any information in the books about how long the war was going on? I’ve always thought the war was going on for a couple of years? 0.o =| I can’t remember.
From what I understand they’ll make 3 movies and a TV series. I liked the first movie, but it was too short wich resulted in too much action.

Loved the books btw. Was the first books that did read. Thought everything else was boring. Think it was ~12 years ago. I was 11-12 back then. ^^

  52. Lisa says:

does anyone know when the second movie will be realesed to the cinermas? been waiting for so long.

  53. Simon says:

No idea. The script is still being written according to Omnilab alound a week ago hen i contacted them in regards to production. This is all i know so far. I’m tipping some time next year but that’s only a maybe.
