Wirrawee Community Site

An interesting website popped up seemingly overnight…

Wirrawee.com.au

…a must-see for anyone driving along the Heron River. A beautiful town centre, friendly people and surrounded by some amazing natural scenery. We’ll definitely be back! – Stuart Beattie

On a related note, keep an eye on The Fix today for the first look at the theatrical poster for Tomorrow: When The War Began and also over the weekend, for an exclusive interview with Caitlin Stasey about Tomorrow.

Fantastic news Nick, thank you! can’t wait to see the theatrical poster!
The Heron bridge is exactly how I’ve pictured it and the Showground looks fantastic!

  2. Jarrad says:

This is a great little gimmick for the movie, absolutely love it.

  3. Huzz says:

Haha! I love it! Looks just like an underdone small town website! Kudos to Paramount for setting it up. Had a lot of fun looking at it and seeing some of the set.

  4. Huzz says:

Just noticed the restaraunt in Wirawee is Thai, not Chinese. Is it possible that Lee is now Thai instead? As it is the only Asian restaraunt on the website, I can’t help but suspect a minor character change in Lee.

    • Vic says:

Lee has always been Thai/Vietnamese, so unless you have the only copy of the book where he’s Chinese, you must have just read it wrong.

Also, some information on Raymond Terrace, the town that was converted to Wirrawee : http://collections.ncc.nsw.gov.au/keemu/pages/nrm/Display.php?irn=60666&QueryPage=%2Fkeemu%2Fpages%2Fnrm%2Findex.htm

  11. Erin says:

Does anyone know where the bridge in the picture on the site is actually located? It looks almost exactly the same as the Morpeth Bridge which is located about 15 minutes from Raymond Terrace, except that there is slightly different support structures underneath. I’m wondering if there is another bridge close by in Raymond Terrace that is similar to the one in Morpeth.

    • Bryan says:

Bridge is over the Hunter River at Luskintyre. Turn off the New England Highway north end of Lochinvar. The transformation to the structure was interesting – they spared no cost. Overnight shooting, the flood lights, the explosions all went on till wee hours. Residents really didn’t mind.
