Who should Ellie end up with?
Ellie had several relationships in one form or another throughout the Tomorrow Series. Crystal1, a member of the Tomorrow-Movies Forum created a great topic about who she wanted Ellie to end up with.

I reckon that Ellie and Lee’s relationship are a huge plot drive, and it’s what makes the movie unique, their odd relationship. Besides they look so cute together!

I completly agree!! Ellie and lee should be together because all these people saying that ellie and homer should be together are seriously insane. it would NEVER work between them!. NEVER!. If they were to get together i would be so disapopinted because homer is ment to be the brotherly character not the love intrest indefinatly.
I think they should stick to the story as it is. If they start going off on tangents and making it a typically happy ending movie, and putting Ellie back with Lee just because that’s what should happen, and not follow the original story its not worth it.
The whole point is trying to re-create what Marsden has written in the books, life’s hard. Why should the movie convey the perfect ending when that’s not what Marsden has written (yet)
I completely agree – if you are making a movie using the basis of AMAZING books, then stick to the storyline! I’ll be so very unimpressed if they change the storyline to make it more ‘Hollywood’

Don’t muck around with the story in the books. Ellie and Lee have their fling and that is the way that it should be left. These movies are about the Tomorrow Series by John Marsden. Lets keep them that way and let the movies be true to the books.
I’m still not 100% sure on this one. I agree that nothing should stray from the books and that lee is who she ends up with. But I never forgot the fact that lee cheated on Ellie halfway through the series. I know that they didn’t have anything official but still: it was wrong, and who’s to say he wouldn’t do it again. I’m not sure about lee, sometimes he is a bit scary and I could see him doing some weird things if he gets angry. I dunno, that’s just my opinion; homer would probably be much healthier for her, but lee is obviously who she wants

Despite the fact that by running off with soe random enerm chick Lee did put the whole gag in danger, I think he still could be excused. When you thnk about it the gu just lost everything that means anything to him and he’s only like 16 so I’d tihnk it’s preety fair to say i’s ok to be a bit out of it. And in this sense Ellie and Lee both were alike as Ellie’s ‘incident’ too was after she lost her best friend and possibly her parents too.

No way, Lee needs Ellie and Ellie needs Lee, thats just the way it is. The reason Lee cheated on Ellie (i think) was because of the war. He was lonely and depressed, especially knowing that he would never see his parents ever again.

Well everyone has their own opinions but John Marsden wrote the story to convey that Ellie ends up with Lee (The Ellie Chronicals) and that’s the best way! I wouldn’t want that changed. Homer and Ellie together would drive each other nuts.

If it was up to me, I would prefer Ellie ending up with a new male character, or with no one at all. Her character is pretty strong, like she doesn’t need a man anyway. As for the boys.. Lee has anger issues and is scary in the beginning of the series, Homer is pretty much an a-hole most of the time despite his intelligence. Well, Chris is dead, and I’m not sure about the Jeremy character yet because I still have not read the Ellie Chronicles.
thankfully john marsden wrote the books. also has input too the movie so that your ideas of new people just wouldnt work it would be boring.
That’s exactly right… and apparently the reason that it’s taken so long to decide to make the movie, is because Marsden didn’t like the changes that people were trying to make to the story and the characters (ie: making Chris gay and things like that). So I think that the movie will be pretty true to the story and original characters

I think they would be like one of those couples who live together (ellie and homer) – they both know their not in love with each other but they care a lot about each other, its a different kind of love – I’d call it friendship but that doesn’t seem like a big enough word.

A few people haven’t read the first book in a while clearly. If you remember, Ellie realises her feelings for Homer and that he is her brother and you just don’t date your brother. Besides Homer is still too immature to have a lasting relationship, him and Fi weren’t together long.

They will probably do what many films do and “hint” towards it then cut the scene – straight to they’re both asleep and homer knocks on the door, either that or they hint towards it and then confirm it later with ellies giggly chat with Fi.

Call me crazy but I would pay for Ellie’s plane ticket to Washington, so she’d meet Edward Cullen. Edward would protect her from all the war and anger she’s been through.
I won’t actually call you crazy but you seriously need to keep these books apart! I say that as a huge Marsden fan and a twilighter. They are like in different galaxies! Anyway I think Edward wouldn’t get on with such a strong type..
The cool thing about Ellie is she is so real, she faces the same sort of stuff we do, as well as all that crazy invasion stuff. She has to work out what she wants, find her own heart, fight her own battles. She is a survivor, someone who tries to do the right thing in a terible situation.
In the end shes not someone who needs rescuing although we all wish for that at times, but someone who deserves an equal partner, someone who is strong enough for her but lets her live her own life too.
I am also sort of a fan for Twilight and agree that the two series just can’t mix. It’s like against the laws of nature (or literature anyway) and besides, you’re going to get your head chewed up about (it’s just not going to be me).
There is a sort of scary and kind of cool realism to the Tomorrow Series, that’s what gives this series strength. It’s like a dramatic war series and you’re trying to mix it with a fantasy love story. And what Serena said about Ellie is pretty much true, she doesn’t need or want a Prince Charming, she has her own strength and would kick the Prince out the door.
Sorry, I just wish I could go to Hogwarts School with Ellie, Lee, Homer, Kevin and Fi, in the town of Forks, on the planet Middle Earth, in a galaxy far, far away

I doubt it actually. The war was Homer’s chance to prove himself and he also matured over time. Fact is, Ellie didn’t question her feelings and opinion on Homer until he started taking charge and showing the initiative.

If the war never happened Ellie wouldn’t have got with Lee nor Homer. I think the only reason Ellie got with Lee was because there was no one else and Ellie even considers that at one point. But they do grow on each other and are so unalike that they fit perfectly together.
The only kind of relationship that Ellie and Lee could have is a deep, meaningful, mature relationship and if the war never happened then Ellie would just have had the same old teenage relationship with Lee. They would only be able to last as long as the war went but i still hope that after the war they would miss each other and realsie what they had was real.

Obviusly not many of you have read the next series – The Ellie Chronicles – because she does actually end up with Lee, John Marsden doesn’t actually put to much depth in about what actaully happens but after Ellie and Gavin sell the farm they moves in with Lee. I have read a few of people talking about Jeremy, they were going out but then he got all persesive of Ellie and angry when she is aroud other guys – Homer and Lee – and Ellie and Jeremy stop talking and thats how it happens
IMO Ellie belongs to Homer. Their friendship was probably the best one in the books. Sure, I loved Ellie and Corrie’s friendship but I think that Ellie and Homer’s relationship is more interesting. He obviously cares about her, he always did and will do and so does Ellie. When the war ended and they went in separate ways, as you can see at end of The Other Side of Dawn (in the Epilogue, I think) their friendship was still sincere but not like it used to be. Ellie said that she needed to figure out how their relatitionship would change, because she liked him too much. I can’t stop thinking that he also likes Ellie and I mean in THAT way. I’m not saying that he should go with her and be her boyfriend because I LOVED how John ended the Ellie Chronicles but I’m sure that Homer also felt the same about her. In several parts of the books both Lee and Jeremy felt jealous of Homer because there was a kind of “special” look in their eyes. In The Circle of Flight when Ellie and Lee got back together, Bronte said that Homer loved Ellie. Yeah, I know, she didn’t believe her but I do lol. He obviously talked to Bronte about Ellie (maybe before Ellie sold her property, I can’t remember when but I’m sure there were Bronte and Homer talking, not in front of Ellie, of course) but even though she didn’t believe her, I’m pretty sure it was because she was in front of Lee. Ellie was surely flattered and wanted to know more about this but she couldn’t ask “oh wow, are you sure?” even if she thought that. She would have felt embarassed, plus Homer was arriving.

We I guess there is no denying that Homer and Ellie do love each other, but its special and different, sort of like – they want each other to be happy. Or you know they trust each other with their lives – I guess thats really prominent in the book

Jeremy is General Finleys son who is somewhat of a regular character in incurable and circle of flight. He’s an alright guy apparently – just not THE ONE
Lee and Ellie. Lee always cared deeply for Ellie and always will, even at times he wasn’t there , Ellie is want kept him going. Lee is a very intense character. Its was always about Ellie and Lee.

All through the books we kept getting lead towards a relationship between them and right at the end when you think, Finally! It doesn’t happen. I was upset about that.
I was hugely disappointed that Ellie and Homer never got together. It was hinted at right from the beginning. He’s the boy next door, they’re best friends, their parents want them to get married and combine the farms… I was so sure they would be together in the end!
When she chose Lee, I thought it was a sick joke. He cheated on her! Over and over… with the enemy! Homer would never do a thing like that.
Also, why did Homer and Ellie never have a conversation about their relationship? Bronte made it clear that Homer was “bursting with love” for Ellie, but he never tells her! I can’t believe Marsden left that loose end.
I think Ellie getting back with Lee (who totally betrayed her) is just wrong and doesn’t give the right message to young readers.
He wasn’t in love with Ellie, bronte just misinterpreted their relationship. I was always a homer/fi fan though!

I’m a major Homer fan. A total romantic for the falling-in-love-with-your-best-friend. The end of the Chronicles was a mix of delight that Homer was in love with Ellie and despair that she chose Lee. But I think the thing about the Tomorrow Series and it’s characters shows that Ellie and Homer don’t have to be in a romantic relationship to have the special relationship of support and love, that is prominent throughout all the books and movie.

In the end I think it comes down to your own imagination and interpretation so really you could make it end however you want – in fact do we have fan fiction sort of section ? maybe I should write up some alternate endings for those who wish to read something different – hey I’m no John Marsden but it could be fun !

Reading this post is really quite depressing. Everyone is like “No you’re wrong. Ellie and Lee belong together.” or “But that’s crazy”. EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion! Honestly? I’d love to see Homer and Ellie get together, but that’s just me! If they did, I wouldn’t like it to get all romantic and sappy. Just like, suddenly there’s this tension/moment and Homer says something deep and … sexy?

I agree, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Personally I like the idea of a Ellie/Homer relationship, but I didn’t have a problem with Lee either. Every ‘fandom’ or whatever you want to call it has their disputes over couples and relationships, but we should all be allowed to submit our thoughts on the matter without having other people jump down our throats because they don’t agree.
For example, just take the Harry Potter fandom (I’m only using this because it’s so familiar to a large group of people, I apologize if you think it’s a poor comparison): despite the clear end to the series, there are a HUGE amount of people who would have preferred Harry and Hermione to end up in a relationship.
We’re all allowed to have our own ideas about the pairings we think would make great couples, and people aren’t always going to agree with us about it. There’s no need to get mean about it. The point of this forum was for everyone to have their say, so let them.

Hi Marin, I would recommend you to buy all the Tomorrow series (and the Ellie Chronicles as well, they’re a sort of ‘sequel’ – that’s the only thing that I can say to avoid spoilers), they’re fantastic books and if you loved the movie (which was amazing) you’ll love the books as well!
Hate to break the Ellie and Lee fantasy but I think Ellie and Homer should get together. Why? Lee’s too boring and Ellie’s fun and outgoing. She needs a guy that she can have fun with. The only way she can have fun with Lee is sexually. homer’s different.
