I watched the movie and I didn't know that she was the actress to play Ellie. However I had watched her in neighbours and I think that she did a brilliant job. The fact is, you people are judging her based on the picture at the top of the page. Not on her acting skills. The first comments were posted before you saw her in the movie. I think she has an amazing ability to change her personality in accordance with what the character requires. I haven't seen her in the sleepover club but what I saw of her in neighbours was very good and I am surprised that you thought she was a bad choice. What people look like very rarely has any resemblance to what they can do and I think it was very unfair of you to not give her a chance. If indeed you were right in saying that it ruined the movie for you - before it came out - perhaps you shouldn't have made that decision until after you had seen her acting. The fact is, as they say, it was an exhaustive audition process. Many actresses who you believe would have been better may well have auditioned. At the end of the day it comes down to who suited the role best according to the expert judgement of the screen writer - who you weren't. They know how to make the right choice and if she wasn't the best actress for the role they could have just as easily given it to one of the other auditionees. As it is I think she performed brilliantly in the movie and I can't wait for the next one to come out.

OMFG, Ellie Linton-Caitlyn Stasey = PERFECT ACTOR ! the movie is just ridiculously good, i have watched it about a million times, and i am still yet to find a problem with Caitlyn as Ellie. I think this movie shows teenagers as respecatble people,. not just the little trouble makers we are always credited for. It has brought a new light to teenage appearance, it shows that we are not who we are deemed out to be. This movie is obviously one of its best in its generation. ITS AMAZING- Ah-maze-ing <3

i read the books years ago, out of school, I was hooked. I just saw the film about a week ago. I'm not much of a movie critic but I reckon Beattie absolutely nailed all of the character castings except for Kevin's Role. Lincoln Lewis was the weakest link by far. I'm not sure whether it was becasue all of the other actors were phenomenal or whether he was just average.

Caitlin Stasey nailed the Ellie role and the whole movie was very faithful to the book. i actually came out of the cinema in a bit of shock, because I didn't expect it to follow the book so closely. Ellie's character was spot on for toughness, vulnerablility, and the underlying sexiness that was not overshadowing Fi's outwardly feminine good looks.

I'm not a fan of Neighbours or Home & Away so I had no bias before i went into the film about Caitlin Stasey. She blew me away with her effort in the film and she is one beautiful girl, awesome work and lets hope they make a sequel.

I actually went to secondary school with Caitlin, I was in the year above her and to me she seemed like a really lovely girl. I remember when she started there I asked her if she was in the Sleepover Club, I probably should have got her autograph considering she's probably going to be a household name =)

I think that she's going to do a great job at bringing one of my favourite book character's to life (even though she's not what I imagined). The trailer looks awesome.

The movie cannot possibly make the characters exactly how we all imagined them - my imaginary Homer and Lee are different to your imaginary Homer and Lee. So in other words, if you were totally happy with the castings, millions of others wouldn't be. Hopefully the actors can pull off the characters though, to make up for the differennce in appearance. We should all just be soo glad that this book is being made a movie XD SOO EXCITED!!!

NOTE: I used the examples of Homer and Lee because A LOT of people seem to be complaining about the castings. This comment applies to Ellie just as much as them.

I WANNA BE AT THE PREMIER!!!

I want to respond to Ryan and the rest of the ones doubting Caitlin in the role of Ellie.
What about watching the film first?? You may feel that the role could have been better cast but i'm sure Caitlin will be great in the role. The trailers look great and this is a great opportunity for a new and young cast.So stop knocking the film before you see it.I agree with the writer Caitlinroxxxx She's going to be just great, can't wait to see it in the UK.
