Stuart Beattie reveals a little more about ‘Tomorrow, When the War Began’

Stuart Beattie talks 'Tomorrow'

…You’re currently in Australia preparing for your directorial debut, Tomorrow, When the War Began. Can you tell me a little about that project?
It’s coming along very, very well. I just met with the author (John Marsden), and he loves the script. He’s given us his special blessing, and we’re on out way. We’re in week three of prep right now.

I know the Tomorrow series centers on a group of teenagers. Are you going for the PG or PG-13 audience with the film?
I’d say PG-13. It’s a war movie, so it’s real people getting shot. It’s not gonna be ‘R’ or anything, I don’t want it to go that far, but it will have real jeopardy. It will be very much a ‘real’ ride.

  2. WazzuMan says:

I do get credit for finding that right ordid I lose that when I didn’t bother to “source” it.

  3. kathryn says:

i want to know if all the actors and actresses have been picked yet?
    are they in filming now?

  4. Julia says:

Hi, whoever is doing the casting, can you please, PLEASE not make any of the main characters i.e. the teenagers that went into hell, random people. people who have had no fame. Quite like what they did with the harry potter cast. It would make it sooooo much better if the characters are actually the characters and they aren’t say “Bella” (twilight) and not “ellie” (tomorrow).

  5. Matheus says:

Cool *-* I wanna know more about the cast :D

  6. Carolyn Standfield says:

think Delta Goodram would make a fantastic Fi!
Also I was wondering where the filming of Hell would be? I think Mt Macedon/Hanging Rock would be great!

  7. Jenny says:

Carolyn Stanfield, you are a superficial moron if u believe that delta goodram would make a good fi.
she is fugly and her standard of acting belongs in pornos!!!!
If we were to make a good suggestion for an actor. how about Joseph Wheeler as homer? he fits the appearance, age and part perfectly.
plus he is reallly really hot!!!!!!!

    • Caity says:

You just said that carolyn was a superficical moron for thinking delta would make i good fi. But then you go and say that delta is ‘fugly’ ( therefore your being superficical) and that joseph wheeler would fit perfectly because hes “really really hot”.Think about what you criticise someone for, if your going to turn around and do the exact same thing!

  8. Goody says:

Sophie Lowe should play Robyn – she is hot property at the moment and she is amazing on the BIG screen.

  9. DirtyHell says:

  10. Bobbie says:

NO NO NO NO why must it be a PG rating? Its a WAR MOVIE come on even Harry Potter can pull an M. How can they capture the violence of war and in the book with a pg rating. That puts a dent in my excitement.

    • Issy says:

      calm down calm down!
      its pg-13 which is M!

      • WazzuMan says:

There isn’t that much violence in the books, especially in book one. The group never at any point are in an active warzone with the exception when they are escaping Stratton Prison and that was an aerial battle. There are many decent movies that make the PG rating and I think that the first Tomorrow is capable of that.
